Hospital and accommodation expenses for foreign tourists who become infected in the community will be borne by the Board from January 2021
Visitors who come to Andalusia will have medical insurance from next year. Theses insurances would cover the costs derived from a possible contagion of coronavirus in the region. The measure tries to guarantee safe mobility corridors in order to boost tourism, one of the most affected sectors during the current global pandemic.
This action joins the distinctive Andalusian Safe and Covid-free Certificates that have been implemented over the last few months in hotel establishments and other services. All is about transferring confidence and security to tourists visiting the community.
The Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Marín, also assured that “Andalusia is in a position to offer tourists better health services than other regions of Spain”.
The sector welcomes the measure, for many it’s late though. Countries like Portugal opted from the beginning to take action in favor of trips, so that the impact of Covid-19 was less. Along with the distinctive stamps with which to make prevention and protection visible, the State has launched an insurance to cover visitors from foreign coutries, the Portugal Travel Insurance.
From this measure of Portuguese we can conclude an estimation of expenses. The price ranges from 37 euros to more than 65 euros, depending on how long are you staying and your chosen coverage. Medical expenses are included in case of contagion, as well as repatriation and accommodation, not only for the affected person, but also for a family member or companion.
Discount voucher for Andalusians
The measure is accompanied by others, focused on promotiong travel within the region. This seeks to minimize the economic effects caused by the health crisis. One of the last measures -published last week- reminds Andalusians or residents of Andalusia that they can visit any place of the territory and benefit from a 25% grant (up to a maximum of 300 euros) from the Regional Government.
These trips must be made between next month and May 2021, and the discount voucher can be used up to three times, as long as the trip is booked through the travel agencies that are part of this initiative.
